The boat went below crush depth for an unknown reason. It was an unsurvivable incident. Most of the waters that subs operate in are too deep to be survivable if you lose depth control for any reason. Until Valhalla, Brothers.
 
Well it has been found in pieces at an extreme depth. Perhaps imploded when it reached it's crush depth.
 
Us current or former sub guys aren't going to tell you the policies etc as we don't want to go to federal prison.

Very amusing reading the responses from people who are not sub people.

Indonesian thorough flow, passing from Indian Ocean to Pacific Ocean, has been known to cause havoc to ships sailing through the many straits in Indonesia. Lots of boats sunk. In fact Mermaid Liveboard was involved in rescuing people out of sunken Phinisi boat near strait of Lombok.
