I'm old school--no computer logs. For future reference, I do Xerox every dive log page and put in the lead fireproof box with all other stuff you can never recover.
 
I would think this depends on the circumstances. As a dive pro you could count your total time logging the dives as man hours that you will have to use re-copying them in to a backup and the cost of the new log books.

If you have no intention of re-copying the logs then just the cost of the books plus original time spent logging them.

This is a difficult thing to put a value on so I say just throw something out there that makes you feel you have been compensated but not something that is absurd and makes you feel like a dirt bag.
