So, divers can get from this:(1) carry a sausage (2) dinking around can put others at risk (3) don't watch those movies if you are a weanie (like me).

I thought Roberta's account of the movie conversation was very entertaining! I could see myself asking those statistics questions.

Roberta's version is a much more believable and credible version. I can completely see how this could have happened and IMO, does not put the dive shop in a bad light...this could have happened with any shop!

I'm really glad Roberta responded to set the record straight...the OP was clearly on a smear campaign...nothing more.

And here I had just got another batch of popcorn made...:lurk:

Well, you all remember that new divers can have the perception that it was very dangerous because they don't have the perspective of ....waiting for the boat a bit. We should probably cut him some slack. And the captain too. I did notice people getting picked up by different operators when I was there....."buddy" captains!

Excerpting...
I am not sure if a reply is necessary or what.... or if some of the things that I wrote are my own personal comments or opinions, then maybe you will need to eliminate that so that the bare facts remain.
I do hope you will thank her for many of us for putting together that response. Working with the retail public can be a pain, I know, from both sides of the table - and I've been wrong myself on both sides, myself.

While she may have reasonably felt that a response was not needed, it really was good that she did.

I had seen where many of the OP's claims might have had some truth, where they might have been understandably exaggerated, and all - but I think they had more than one diver diving beyond his skills, and one who should've hired additional help or training.

Has anybody ever dove a 5 knot current? I think your reg flows and your mask fills and your pants come down.

I have a picture of this poor man hooked in at Blue Corner, with his mask flooded and his board shorts around his knees. I would post it....but that would be wrong. and I would get another PM. No butts allowed.

LOL I was reading this thread and remembering the currents at Blue Corner.....one of our inexperienced divers was swept over the the top of the reef ....and if you want to see a REAL Dive Master, watch one with a video camera go racing after him and get him hooked on the reef, then go back to the rest of the group and keep us all together !!! GO BIG BLUE CREW!

Yeah...Roberta account sure cut alot of the drama from the OP...:D

But I was hoping for a longer melodrama...now I've got to put a DVD on to use this popcorn:lurk:

Now how do I go about renting Open Water:sofa:

Are you saying...Friends don't let friends see Open Water???:D

Men are always ridiculing that movie. I would like to point out that it was a "character study in the psychology of crisis" and that it was a very low budget film. maybe you guys need to think deeper. You all just want easy entertainment, all the time! Am I the only person on the planet that liked this movie???...how can that be?
