So, it seems that I might be losing my dive buddy this year...My wife wants to have our first baby so she's more than likely going to miss the diving season this year. At least, she won't be getting out to do any serious diving from the looks of things. That leaves me looking for people to dive with on a regular basis...

I wanted to get into doing some easier wreck dives this year and start building on some experience in that arena. I have limited boat diving experience which has been in the caribbean while on our honeymoon. But I have about 50-60 total dives logged to date with most being shore dives. This year I tried getting out to the Brownstone Quarry at least two to three times a month to keep up on skills and to get my wife used to diving since she had gotten certified in July.

I currently have my OW and I completed my Buoyancy course through Scuba Shack in Rocky Hill, CT. This spring I'll be doing my advanced open water since I know the card is required for most dive ops (which is silly since the AOW course doesn't really seem to offer much more than a few more supervised dives). And while I haven't done the rescue course yet, I am a paramedic so that leaves me somewhat well trained to handle a medical issue on a dive. This year after talking with the Ed at Scuba Shack, I'll probably be taking GUE-Fundamentals and I'm going to be starting to dive doubles since the idea of redundancy makes sense, as well as if I plan to have my diving progress to longer and deeper dives I'd rather get used to it now and be competent in them.

Last year I had heard that the Onondaga and the Olinda would be good wrecks to start on.

My work schedule gives me weekdays to dive when sites are a little less busy at well. So if anyone has any interest in diving with a new buddy and helping me with a transition to diving doubles and lastly to progress into boat and wreck diving...feel free to post a message or send a PM.

Shane

Sorry that this sounds like a long winded resume, but I wanted people to get an idea of my experience and where I'm at with my diving before deciding if they want to dive with me.

If you're open to driving up to Boston, Pat & Jim from Boston Harbor Diving can take you to loads of wrecks in and around Boston and buddies usually aren't a problem.
