110 years ago today, the RMS Lusitania was torpedoed by U-20 with the loss of 1,197 lives. It was a horrendous tragedy and still causes incredible controversy to this day.

The wreck lies in 90 metres of the Southern coast of Ireland and was described by legendary diver Gary Gentile as an "impossible dive" The first recreational dives on the wreck were achieved during the 1994 Starfish Enterprise expedition, led by technical diving pioneer Polly Tapson (RIP)*.

I've had the great privilege of diving it 10 times including the one shown in this video

* As an aside, she deserves to be much better known than she is.

Unbelieveable but real and an absolute privilege that you're on here and presenting us with this stuff thanks

I'm sure any cave divers watching rather that commenting on your technique would also be watching in awe

That was phenomenal! Thank you so much for posting that. It is amazing that you have dived such an important part of maritime history. Please keep posting your videos!

Looks good - Vis didnt seem too bad topside, looks like you had that smoky vis inside the boiler room

Mate have you posted any Lermontov videos now that would be really really cool too

For sure- got lots of vids of the Lermontov on my tube channel plus some other stuff- I think your from aussie right ? -got a nullabor one too

Always looks a bit better on video/camera but yes I've been very fortunate on both my trips to have had decent (for the Luistania) vis!
I must say I get a bit envious when I see how many wreck you have around the coast - most of my wreck diving involves flying to another country - having said that its hard to beat the amazing vis you get in the pacific - on a good day you can get 30-40m on an 80 m dive - highly recommend the Solomon islands if you haven already been
