We hit Folly today - dead low tide. We literally walked to the buoys in the middle of the cove before it was time to fin. We swam out a good distance then descended and continued around the point. We maxed out at 40' and we were all the way around the point. It's the lowest tide I have seen at Folly. Water temp was 40 degrees (one computer reading 39 and one reading 40). Vis was decent - about 15'.

We dove Front Beach on Sat - we also got a temp reading of 40 degrees. We were trying out our new camera, so we just wanted easy entry/exit conditions.

Sadly, our dive lasted 25 minutes before I started to feel VERY cold, weirdly cold, and not just my hands...and sure enough, I had a leak in my drysuit - somewhere close to the inflator valve. Significant, too - I was soaked, chest, stomach, upper thighs.

Crap.

We'll try to put a little glue around the outside of the valve and hope that's the problem...if not, I give up...I wanted to move up from my 7mm neoprene dry sometime, and now's as inconvenient a time as any...

We didn't see anyone else around - hope you all had good dives.

That is why I like wet suits. Low tech and what you see is what you get, plus I'm salty enough to take a little coolness if that were to happen.

Ditto... I'd never have gotten a dry suit if warmth were the only consideration. I love my wetsuit, but when doing any deco dives, I want the comfort and safety of having redundant bouyancy. Of course, now that I have one, I might as well use it. Besides, I like having less weight on my belt!
