I would love to have a wrist mount but I have desided I am too much absent minded to be able to keep one (for long) I would end up leaving it somewhere or worse dropping overboard.

I have been looking at the following computers most of them are AI

Sherwood Wisdom,
Aeris Atmos AI,
Suunto "Cobra" Air/Nitrox, Air Interegrated

I am really open to sugestions

Second question has anyone had any luck with www.scuba.com?

So which is the best bang for the buck?

I ordered a Tusa M-14 Mask from them online. I was amazed by how fast I got it. Price was good too.

apparently they price match even un-authorized dealers (leasurepro?) I am going to be testing this theory when I eventually buy my computer.

not a good reason to buy something non-wrist mounted.
i suggest not buying an AI computer. Try harder to stay focused on what you are doing. I just bought an oceanic VEO 200, its cheap, nitrox capable, has gauge mode and is PC interfacable.
It will do what you need.

I guess what I was trying to say is I am looking at hose mounted computer vs. wrist mount. because I would be too woried about loosing the wrist mount.

one thing about computers thats bugging me. how often do you need to service them yearly? when they break? never? Basicly I am trying to weight the pro/cons about an online dealer such as leasurepro.

as I am quite sure the local dive shop would spit in my face if I brought in an "unauthorized" product. I just think computer prices are redicious 1200 dolars for a box that has a bit more power than a digital/calculator watch (exagerating alot here no flames please) which basicly brings me around to my point if they rarely need to be serviced LP all the way if this is a frequent thing that needs to be done I will unhappily take out a 3rd mortgage on my house to by my computer.

another reason not to buy AI hose mounted computers, or AI computers in general for that matter, they are expensive. I havent had to service my computers yet.
the only reason they would need servicing is when the information they give doesnt make sense. On a sidenote, that is why the diver needs to know what is going on rather than trusting a computer blindly. Also, i strongly suggest buying a computer that allows for battery replacement by the user.

$300 is about what i am willing the spend on a dive computer.
no need for anything more fancy IMHO.
wrist mount is the way to go.

as for the diveshop harassing you, find another shop.
their un-professionalism is unacceptable.

and likes it a lot. If you are concerned about being absent-minded and forgetting a wrist mount, then be careful if you get a console with quick disconnect. You may also forget the computer if you have taken it off and then you are really SOL because you won't know depth or pressure. Just a little thought to consider.

I'd think seriously about the Suunto Mosquito. It is wrist mounted but it's watch size. I just wear mine all the time. It is also nitrox 21%-50% compatible so if you take Nitrox this will work for you. It's full featured, has a user replaceable battery as well.

Also the cost is around $350-400 USD retail.

FWIW, I just recently received my Uwatec Pro Ultra from LP ($299) and used it for the first time this weekend for 2 dives. I couldn't be happier with it. It gives you all the information you need, nice big screen, nitrox ready, very easy to operate, and very durable. Take a look:

Good luck on your choice
