looking for open heel custom strap Ideas

hi all

I picked up a pair of Mares Plana Avanti Limited edition fins at a thrift shop a while back for $20 and while I love them I'm having trouble with my float line constantly getting caught on the heel straps and buckles.

So I'm trying to come up with a simple strap that won't snag on everything within 40 fathoms and I got to thinking that I can't be the first one with this problem so I'm hoping someone's already come up with a simple solution
