Sounds like maybe shore dive down at Laguna Beach (Shaw's Cove, Diver's Cove, Fisherman's Cove) for a day and night, then go to Redondo Beach and do some night dive on Wednesday (Wed & Thu are usual dive nights for local divers), go to Catalina on Friday and bang out some day and night dives at Casino Point, then maybe do a Ventura/Northern Channel Islands boat dive on Saturday.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies, good information and invites. We have to schedule the trip between the 12th and 16th of August as my son will be heading off to college after that so that limits our schedule somewhat.

Hi Mg,

We have lots of boat trips during your travel window. Our Friday Express will do 3 dives at Catalina on Friday 8/14 for $95 all inclusive (tanks, weights, air, 2 meals, lots of snacks & beverage choices). Saturday the 15th you could get 4 dives in by riding with Eco Dive Center for a backside/Farnsworth Banks trip, and then stay aboard for a front side afternoon open boat on Sundiver Express (I'll do 2 for 1 on the afternoon open boat), or come out on Sundiver for an amenities heavy, all inclusive 3 tank trip for $125. Sunday the 16th, you could also get 4 dives in if you rode along on both Eco charters that day.

We would be delighted to help you get the most out of California diving with your son before he heads off to school! :)

If you're interested in diving in San Diego, I would suggest Marissa Dive Charters. For the period you've designated, they have an open trip to the Coronados on the 12th, an, as of yet, undesignted trip on the 13th, and a great advanced dive on the Hogan and Yukon on the 14th.

The 3 dive trip to the Coronados is not to be missed. It's an all day trip, 3 great dives, very leisurely, all the food you can eat, and great company. The Hogan/Yukon dive is fantastic if you're in the position to do it. Marissa is one of my favorite dive charters, Capts Carl and Anita are among my all time favorites.

Best of luck on your So Cal trek, go dive with ShakaZulu. PM me with any questions.

Good diving, Craig
