Looking for info on 1996 incident at Whytecliff

In 1996, I lost a work colleague and friend to a diving accident. At the time, I was simply sad to lose a friend but now that I dive, I'd like to understand what happened. Three divers died in the same incident. The only info I can find is the following:

You might try to contact Divers Alert network- DAN Divers Alert Network - Scuba Diving and Dive Safety Association they may have some suggestions.

Also check with the local shops to see if anyone was around then- in dive time- that was quite a while ago.

are you able to get any old news paper articles from the library? Perhaps if could find something you could post the information and folks could help speculate what might have happened. Newspaper articles are often incomplete and are not written by dives, but in some instances provide enough clues that you might get an idea of some of the things that went wrong.
