Hi all I would appreciate any input. I am considering purchasing a Sea Elite EBS complete back plate system from Divers-supply. At $349.00 it seems to be a pretty good deal. Can anyone give me an idea about the quality of Sea Elite as I am completley new to tech gear.

I was looking at one of those and was asking about them in their shop but nobody could give me any concrete info as well as fruitless searches here on the forums. That setup also comes with a pretty hefty wing which is a bit overkill unless you were doing some heavy diving.

I would suggest looking at ScubaToys $320 (and I believe you can get the 10% discount on that)

BackPlate and Wing Package reviews and discounts, Dive Rite

or CaveAdventurers $275 (but I think you need to add bands to finish the package)

Aluminum BP, Hog Harness, Classic Wing special [bphhwingpkg] - $275.00 : Cave Adventurers!, We will NOT be undersold!!!

They both come with DiveRite wings which are fine wings. Maybe not the preferred but for the price very hard to beat.

Oh and I am not saying this is an optimized setup, just pointing out a pretty good deal to be had.

I'm not familiar with the Sea Elite rig.

I got a DSS single tank rig from Deep Sea Supply that was reasonably priced and I've been completely happy with. I think it's probably the best value out there from a quality/price perspective.

I agree with Straegan, go for the basic hog bp/w. 9 times out of 10, a BC that is marketed as a "tech bc" is not ideal for technical diving. The EBS system is bungeed, soft backed (no BP), and has quick release buckles and d-rings everywhere. You'll be better off w/ a single piece of webbing, hard plate, and basic horseshoe wing.
