Finally have the August trip solid. Now need help arranging some diving.

I will arrive in Providence RI on Aug 12. Will leave on Aug 21. I'm a tag along so have lots of time on my hands. Would like to dive as much as I can except on Aug 19. Will have a rental car so can do reasonable travel.

Never been in that part of the US so unfamiliar with the geography and associated travel times.

Have made arrangements with one person for Aug 17th.

I've sent emails to several dive shops, United Divers the latest, with absolutely No Response. Why they bother with web sites and email contact addresses beats me. But that is another subject.

Can anyone point me to a shop, person, etc so I can get wet down there?

Thanks

Try Calling (not emailing) Dan or Dave at Ocean State Scuba in Jamestown RI. They can help you

If you want to dive on Cape Cod at all, I can dive the weekend of 2th / 13th, or 14-16th afternoon or night dives. There is a good spot do dive about a mile and a half from my house. (Garbage beach Woods Hole, warmish water with 65' depth from a shore dive)

I'm about 45 minutes to an hour from providence.

this shop organizes several shore dives on cape cod www.aquacenter.com. They have a night dive scheduled at Sandwich Town Beach during that week.

Sandwich town beach is a fun dive. It is shallow and cold though. The bottom topography is interesting because there is remanants of salt marsh still there. (the marsh currently is seperated from the ocean by the beach parking lot)

If I'me still free that week we could probably get out to one of the wrecks around Jamestown R.I. Let me know.

they have a dive society which does shore dives (guided by divemaster or instructor) on wednesday nights (meet at shop @ 6) and sunday mornings (meet at shop @ 9)..

they have rentals for whatever you may need to.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm in the process of chasing all the suggestions via Posts, PMs and Phone calls.

Looks like I'm going to be able to get wet while I'm there. Great!

Varied opinions though on Diving wet in a 3/5 mil suit or a dry suit? What do you think?
