I just don't log dives
I'm new on here and don't want to start a brand war like on other forums. but i need some info on what to look at in regs. i need to buy three one for my wife,my 10year old, and my self. it's been a long time sence i dove and i had a old us divers reg and oct set up. but would like to get something nicer as i plan on diving alot more now the family is getting into it. i'll probally be looking into used as three sets of gear would set me way back. so is there any brands i sould stay away from or look more at. there is alot of use gear on ebay and i'll have it all checked out at the shop

Welcome to Scubaboard!

Good deals on used gear can be found on ebay if you know what you are looking for. Be sure you can get it serviced locally 1st. I've had good luck on ebay, but knew exactly what I wanted, knew what price was "good", and did my own servicing.

Buying "used" can be a great deal, just be very sure you know what you are getting (for example, I would avoid buying used Dacor regs since the brand is now out of business and it will get harder and harder to find rebuild parts).

LeisurePro.com , ScubaToys.com , DiveSports.com , and other online retailers often have really good deals on new equipment, so it is worthwhile checking out the new gear as well. ZeagleExpress.com and others are selling their remaining stock of just-discontinued Zeagle Flathead VI regulators for about $350 (this was an excellent >$500 regulator last year, it was replaced by the Flathead 7 this year).

There are deals out there if you shop around.

Which manufacturer? All the major players make great regulators. Aqualung, Scubapro, Oceanic, Mares, Zeagle, Atomic, DiveRite, Apex... the list goes on. Any mid-range regulator from any of these brands will be reliable and would make you very happy.

Some dive shops will sell their used rental regulators for a good price. This is worth checking into as well. Some dealers may also give you a price break if you are buying 3 sets of regulators, another thing to look into.

Best wishes.

hi there i personally stick to aqualung and scubapro.
if your looking into the used market you cannot go wrong with a scubapro mk10 1st stage and r190 or g250 2nd stage. thay are classics
thats also what i used to have. i dive now with an aqualung legend lx acd but its a new reg albeit i highly recommend it too.

look at aqualung for your 10 yr old the mikron is a good small reg, for your wife suggest look at mares at the metal proton she dives, and you scubapro mk17 or mk25 g250v or s600
computers you should all probably the same look at mares and suunto, i personally have mares but am switching two suunto vypeer air soon.

Howdy Neighbor and welcome to Scuba Board,

You should save a few bucks and have your old regulator serviced. For the others that you need send a PM to DA Aquamaster, (click on QUICK LINKS --->SEND NEW MESSAGE, type in DA AQUAMASTER under recipients usernames) tell him what sort of diving you will be doing and see if he has some rebuilt regulators for sale. He is a ScubaPro tech and one of the good guys here on SB and can probably service the reg you have now.
