My girlfriend and I will be staying on Kauai from 9/11 thru 9/17 and would like to do some diving. I am certified through Rescue Diver with 58 logged dives, my girlfriend is a comfortable surfer and snorkeler but has never dove. I was thinking she could do a DSD and I could do a regular 2 tank dive. On previous trips with a DSD, I was able to do the first tank as a regular dive with other certified divers while the DSDs did their skills stuff in the shallows. Then, usually the shop would bring me back to do the second tank dive with the DSDs. Anyone know of a shop where this could be done on Kauai? I have been talking to Dive Kauai and Seasport but I don't think they can accomodate something like this. If not, no big deal, I'll probably just do a two tank certified dive while my girlfriend does DSD I suppose.

There are special (and more restrictive) rules for a DSD from a boat. Is this part of the issue?

I think so, which I understand. One shop mentioned doing their DSDs even with certified divers from a shore dive spot called Koloa Landing.

Hey there. Sorry I’m late to the game. We use Fathom Five on Kauai. They’re all great. Sean and Julie are super dive masters.

Fathom is good and so is Kaua‘i SCUBA Adventures. Scott at KSA often has a DSD with a certified diver tagging along.

Koloa Landing would be a good option for both a two tank and DSD shore dive on Kauai.
