I certainly did not mean to imply that Looe Key Reef-Resort was not a good operation. Looe Key runs a safe boat & the crew are safety conscious. The people who run the dive operation are friends of mine & I would not insult them publicly or privately.

My only point was that the boat can be packed with 40-45 people and some people do not care to be in crowds on the boat or in the water.

Thanks for all the useful information. After additional research, several recommendations, and a number of telephone calls we decided to book with a smaller operator. Felt better to us as novices rather than the cattle boat approach. I'll report back after our trip to share our experiences. Again, thanks for all the advice.

HUGE to say the least. Resting inside the pilot house with it's head slightly protruding from the door.....just enough to allow a tickle under the chin!

100days-a-year once bubbled...
See the Jewfish on the Busch? There is at least one large resident and a coupla "little" 100pounders.They stay aft right behind the pilothouse which is by the way full of empty spiny oyster shells.

Cool, that was worth the price of the E-ticket.Good photo op.They are usually there unless spooked(chased actually )

Those critters do have a taste for bugs. While working a ledge not too far from there, my friend was setting the shorts off behind him so as not to have to measure them 2 or 3 times. Looking back over his shoulder he spotted a Jewfish waiting for the next snack, his mouth & gullet were so full of bugs there were legs & antennae sticking out of his gills.

Bob3,I can feel the pain.I've had that happen to me nearby .A rap on the nose was the only way to get him to stay more than 3ft away.Still rather have the bother than a shortage of the big guys.
