For all you long hose users:

I've been diving the BP&W incorporated with the bungeed secondary on a 24" hose along with the primary on a 7' hose routed off a ATX50. I don't have a canister light, but route the hose around my right side under a DiveRite pocket and up and around the neck to my mouth. I also have a SS snap on a o-ring on the hose for clip off when not in use.

My question centers around the fact that the hose wants to raise up over my head at times (towards the back left) and bugs me. We're not talking major PITA, but it still concerns me like I'm not doing something right.

Maybe recoiling the hose to follow the natural coil effect might help, maybe the SS snap weighs it down on the forward right side which pulls the opposite side up. I dunno, but I'm open to suggestions and some help. What are you guys/gals doing?

Are you staying horizontal? If the pocket isn't long enough to hold the hose down you can also tuck it into you belt.

Most of the time. When I'm not, its my choice. I love this setup!!

I'm assuming the hose shouldn't be tight around the neck, since you don't want a pull against your mouth. It does stay tucked under the pocket fairly well. However a canister or something longer would be better.

Maybe you have the loop around your head a bit too large. It can be quite tight without restricting head movement. I put a fairly large loop around my head and then tighten it up until the amount of movement 'feels' right. I then tuck whatever is spare.

The hose should be set so that when the second stage is in your mouth, you can turn your head freely to the left without it stopping your movement. Anything more than that is too much. If I am not running a cannister light, I will just tuck the hose under the waste strap. From there it is still easy to deploy and very easy to control the tension.

Thanks guys, I had just been routing it around the prescribed way with the extra at the top around my head. I will check adjusting the hose a bit for less slack.

I have my sea snips in the "DIR knife" place and hook the long hose underneath. This seems to help make the 7' more manageable.
Aaron, are you saying you route your long hose across your front under the knife location on the left of center? I can see where that would tak up some slack.

Exactly. If possible, I hook the right side under one of my weights on the weightbelt also. So instead of making a V down from my tank up back to my head, it kinda makes a square.

...is pretty much the exact same as yours, Aaron. The SeaSnips and knife on the right. It's been working for me just fine. I've got a Sherwood Oasis, which is a lighter regulator, and I haven't noticed this problem.

Maybe the snap is a little too large? The one I've got is SS from Home Depot attached by cave line (thanks Wendy :D), and it does weigh down the reg a little on the surface, but is negligable underwater. The hose routing mentioned to take up some slack sounds like it would help.

I tried hooking the hose around my sea snips, too, but they aren't long enough to do a good job of holding the hose. I just started (carefully) stuffing the hose.
