Is there any way we could...just ship you guys the NFL so we can be rid of them? Take college football while you're at it. What a total waste of life.

NFL headed back to Britain
After successful debut in '07, League will return in '08

LONDON (AP) -- The NFL will return to Britain next season.

The league, which held its first regular season game outside North America in London last October, said Thursday it would come back again in 2008.

The teams, date and venue will be announced during Super Bowl week late this month or in early February.

The New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins 13-10 in front of 81,176 fans at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 28.

"The game in London was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire 2007 season," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. "We had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event from all involved -- the teams, our sponsors and business partners and of course the fans themselves."

Wembley officials weren't so ecstatic because the game, played through a persistent drizzle, tore up the field and left it in rough shape for England's crucial European Championship qualifier against Croatia on Nov. 21. The English lost that game 3-2 and failed to qualify for Euro 2008.

Besides Wembley, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, is another possible venue for next season's game.

In 2006, NFL owners agreed to play one or two regular-season games outside the United States for the following five years. The Dolphins and Giants essentially volunteered for the 2007 game and are not expected to be asked to return in the near future.

Bolts, Saints expect London invite
Announcement could come during Super Bowl week

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- The San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints expect to play each other in London this fall in the NFL's second regular-season game to be played outside of North America.

Both teams said the invitation should come from commissioner Roger Goodell during his Super Bowl address on Friday.

The Saints would lose a home game.

"We are very much aware that we are being considered for this unique and exciting opportunity to represent the league internationally and look forward to the decision of the commissioner this Friday," Saints spokesman Greg Bensel said Monday.

In a story posted on the Chargers' Web site, team president Dean Spanos said he was "cautiously optimistic" the Chargers will be picked. So optimistic, it seems, that the Chargers anticipate the London game will be played on Oct. 26, and that both teams would have byes the following week.

Spanos is a member of the NFL's International Committee. He said he and Goodell spoke about 21/2 months ago and again recently.

The game will pit New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees against his old team, and Saints running back Reggie Bush against his hometown team. Brees was allowed to leave the Chargers as a free agent following the 2005 season.

Last season, the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins played in London in the NFL's first regular-season game outside of North America. The Giants won 13-10.

Yep, it's official.

The Chargers will be playing the Saints on October 26th in London, England.

Guess I won't be going to DEMA this year... :)

Flights + tickets for the Saints/Chargers game + hotel add up to US$1500...

Guess I'll have to stay local. :)
