Hi all,

Anyone find a cheaper alternative to the $30 padi log book binder? I've been to all the office supply websites i can think off and can't find one that will work. I mean come on $30 for a binder!

I've got a blue PADI binder that zips closed in great (almost unused) condition, I'll sell it to you for $15 including shipping to the continental US, payment via PayPal only. PM me if interested.

I've used old day planners and such for log books.

I've also printed my own log books, then taken them to an office supply store and had them punched and plastic spiral bound. It's pretty inexpensive.

One of these days I should start using them again...

Print your own log sheets and get a binder of your liking at staples or Wal-Mart etc. it's not life support so you are free to be creative.

I use a a full sized zippered portfolio that has room to store a few local fish and site books, my puter manual, a few emergency reference cards and assorted reference documents like a cylinder properties table for folks who aren't' sure what to do with a different cylinder. It's sort of a little portable dive office. Be creative and make yourself prepared. My actual log pages are from an Excel log, printed and back to back in page protectors. It's surprising how often I'll go back to see what conditions were someplace on a given date and stuff like that.

I bought a nice "dive flag" motif one on my first dive vacation - $20 at Lahaina Divers in Maui.

haha. $24 is still way more then they're worth.

Thanks for all the feed back! I like the idea of just making my own pages for a standard
cheap binder from wall mart. to me it seems like the padi ones are charging you $20 for the ink used in printing the word padi and 5-10 for the actual binder. thanks for the offers though! =)

safe diving.

e-bay has a ton of them with all sorts of designs. Nice zipper to hold it all together and pockets for keeping goodies organized. Around $25

Buy you one set of refill pages and find a binder to fit them, then all you have to do is just get pages next time you need some.

OfficeMax sells one binder sized to fit the standard 1/2 sheet pages. The cost is about $7. Compared to that a zippered binder with pockets for $25 is not such a bad deal. I doubt you would do better with Franklin (the organizer company). But I picked one up from a dive shop for about $10, I think, since it had the old name of the shop on it.

I bought the $7 binder to store my earlier dives since I was running out of room.

But, if you can do everything you want for $5 from Walmart, more power to you.
