Perhaps this should be posted in the gear forum, but I was looking for a more local readership.

Is there a good shop local to the L.A. area (or better yet, in the valley) that does drysuit alterations and repairs... in house? Actually, I'm pretty sure Hollywoodivers will do simple repairs, replacing seals and such, but how about someone who can add suspenders and a pocket (and hopefully doesn't charge an arm and a leg to do so!)?

Alternately, if there is a website with good DIY instructions, I might take a stab at it (figuratively!) myself, but being the lazy sort, I'd rather throw money at it, as long as it's not excessive.

Thanks!

Not sure about LA area, but I have excellent luck with Sea Me Repair in San Diego. I had them put a new neck seal and below pocket on the kid's CLX450 recently. They did great work, turned it around in a few days (despite a quoted lead time of a couple weeks), and were competitively priced (cheaper than DUI).

As far as some DIY dry suit repair info, check out the Repair & Maintenance manual on the DUI site. Good luck.

Personally I would call Hollywoodivers. Since your in Studio City, they aren't far from you. They can do just about anything and if they can't, they'll send it out for repair or for additional stuff you want added to your suit.

I decided against pockets on my dry suit but, I remember them saying that if I changed my mind, I can bring it in and they'll send it out.

I know they (hollywoodivers) do simple repairs, patches and seal replacements in house (I've sat on the floor with Kareem and watched him do it), but I don't know if they do sewing. I'm in there all the time, so perhaps I'll check with them. I don't want the suit sent out, frankly, because that involves a larger time (and money) committment than I'm willing to make for what was supposed to be a cheap suit. I'll have to ask them, regardless, and depending on their answer I'll check with West Coast Divers (but their hours were tough for me to deal with, from what I recall).
