Any one want to get a dive in this friday morning somewhere local; Aurora or Chatfield (I've never been there)?

My husband and I were planning on taking Friday off and doing a bunch of dives at Aurora (just cause we can). Is Aurora any better during the week than on the weekends?

From what I've heard, yes.
Less divers = better vis
But it's all relevant. Maybe 6-8 feet vs 2-3 feet.

Do you mind if I tad along? What time were you thinking? I was thinking around 10 give or take an hour.

We were thinking of getting there around 10-ish too, probably not earlier. Our plan initially is to find the plane and just mess around there for a dive, and then maybe work on some of our skills for other dives, like navigation, and such. I think we're going to bring our Weber BabyQ grill and grill some hot dogs after the first 2 dives for a nice long surface interval, so it'd be great if you wanted to join us.

If anyone else is thinking of coming out Friday, post on the thread, so we can buy some more hot dogs.

And we won't forget our tent/gazebo thingie either, it's right next to the car (we usually always forget it).

Damn! I hate it when work gets in the way of doing stuff! :D

Have fun, and please post a report on the Vis. I've about given up on Aurora for the year based on the vis we had last weekend. But maybe, just maybe it was the 5Million divers there, and the rain, and not just the algae!

The plane is below to the white buoy. Follow the chain down to the Block, and there is another chain that runs to the plane, which is currently RIGHT NEXT to the anchor. Last year the anchor was about six feet or more from the plane, so I have to wonder if someone used a lift bag, and moved the anchor closer.

I must say that we good vis last weekend BEFORE everyone got to the beach. Maybe 8-10 feet.
Everyone else reported 0-2 feet later in the day.

That's what we're hoping by going on a Friday - no OW classes out there, and hopefully everyone will be at work. :) We'll definitely report in.

The vis tends to go downhill fast in Aug. Last year we dove it in July, and had reasonable vis. We did it again maybe the second week in Aug, and the vis had dropped to next to nothing.

Rob,

I think I may take the day off and join the crowd. I've got a bunch of vacation hours I have to use by the end of the year, so I might as well use some for this. Is there a link that someone can post that will give me an idea of exactly how to get to the right area? I understand that it will cost $5, they give you a key to drop off your gear, then you go park somewhere else.

Tim
