There are a number of sites in around Tavernier/Islamorada, as well as, some just south of Key Largo. I'd stop by a dive shop and get a Top Spot map and have them show you the areas to look and the ones that are protected.

Some dive shops, including myself, do take divers out for lobster. But this year the yield has been very low as compared to the last few years.

Good Diving/Hunting,

Is there any place that isn't protected to lobster around Largo & Islamorada?

Lots of places are open to responsible harvest... even in Key Largo! While you're unlikely to limit out, if you know what you're doing, you're also unlikely to get skunked! Unfortunately, there's a lot of misinformation out there.

Many local ops will tell you that lobstering isn't allowed here, while it would be more accurate to say that they do not allow lobstering from their boats. Be sure you know the rules before you go, or dive with a crew who who does (like ours or Gary's).

Happy Hunting!
