No bugs today without eggs, but several monsters were grabbed and fondled long enough to ascertain that they were egg-bearing, and then released alive and unhurt.

A number of shovel-nose came home with us, however, as did a small swarm of fish that fell to our spears.

Dives were made at the Timberholes, in 100-110' of water, with a bottom temp a refreshing 73F and vis of 50'+. The only strike on the day was a close-to-two-knot RIPPING surface current that made the use of the current assist line mandatory, left one feeling like they had done 100 pull-ups by the time they managed to get from the stern of the boat where entry was made to the anchor line, and required extreme caution so as to not miss the anchor line for ascent, under penalty of floating off in the open gulf - possibly beyond visual range even with a safety sausage - before you surfaced.

Fortunately the surface current disappeared at ~10fsw, so once below until after your safety stop you were not a "flag in the wind."

A good time was had by all....
