they do their check out dives all the time.

Springs this time of the year.

As for the High Springs area: there are two shops in High Springs-- Cave Country Cave Country Dive Shop - Home and there is Global Explorer shop which so far as I can tell is mainly targeted at high end tech and cave diving. Cave Country seems to be a nice shop I haven't taken any classes there but I spoke to some of their instructors when I dropped off some tanks for hydro. The advanced open water instructor said he does 5 dives during his classes. The cavern diving instructor said he wants people to have dual tanks for caverns. A bit pricey I thought. They don't post prices on their website but I doubt AOW costs $400 since the other shops are in the mid $300 range for that class. They are PADI and some other certs.

About 15 minutes away is a shop in Alachua--Dive Monkeys they are offering a combined AOW and Nitrox course for $350
or so IIRC. Scuba Dive Shop Gainesville Fl | Scuba Monkey Dive Center - Home They are PADI

About $20 minutes away right off I75 is Lloyd Bailey who has been in business for almost 35 years. His AOW is $270 IIRC not including the book which would run around $50 or so (just a guess). I took OW from him and he provided all gear except fins, masks and I think wet suits. And that includes fills. He does SSI. He has a big store with 360 wetsuits. He is Internet illiterate however and you have to call him for info since his website has not been updated since 2009.

The instructor we had for OW went over 5000 dives during our 3rd session so he has experienced instructors if he doesn't do it himself. Lloyd himself is a one of a kind character, but will bend over backwards to help anyone.
