We have a group that just returned from Nassau. Almost every photo had a lionfish or two. I was told they were on several divesites.

Can you possibly get one and upload it here ??

They are getting to be very common on the offshore sites here in NC. I saw about 8 on the Normannia two weeks ago which is pretty common. The difference this time is I had my video camera. Check out the Normannia video on my site, most sitings are near the end of it. www.wilmingtondiving.com/video.shtml (there might be a bad word in the music so you've been warned)

I saw some small ones on the Rosin Wreck one of which was 2 inches long with a full belly so they are definitely spawning.

They are here to stay

I saw one two years ago on the U-352 in NC. They are not released aquaria. Believe it or not, it's due to the gulf stream sweeping up in that general area. They get picked up, the waters are perfect for them, they have places to live and reproduce and wha laa.

Where in Palm Beach? I've been helping a friend filmming a doc on this.

They are either released aquaria, or likely brought here as larvae through shipping ballast. There are a few theories out there, hard to prove though.

OK ...seeing is believing. Hope I get to see one in person some day.

H2Andy:
i've only read about sightings, never seen one myself

That's because they don't live in freshwater caves Andy......:D
