Really? I was there a month ago, did 30 dives, and didn't see a one. We didn't discuss it, but I didn't hear of anyone in our 20 person group finding one either.

That are sneaky..

I propose we let divers carry knives in Cozumel and we could then stab Lionfish when sighted in Cozumel. :thumb:

(gloves would be recommended also do you don't sting your hands removing the Lionfish from your knife).

That would be a bit like stabbing mosquitoes.

There was a lionfish recipe thread going awhile ago - had some real tasty dishes thought up too :D

What do you guys/gals think?

I think that if humans believe that they can have an impact on this... well- that's what got us in this mess in the first place.

I, too, just got back from Roatan. It was beautiful! I, too, saw and reported several lionfish while there. One was captured in a net by Roatan Marine Park people, one was wounded by a speargun. I tried to stab one with my knife. All I can say is, I've done some incredibly stupid things in my life, and that was one of them.

I agree with RoatanMan.

Probably oughta be a bounty paid for them. They'd disappear pretty quickly.

Saw the signs, knew they'd been seen around, but have no idea how many are around. Anyhow, good you marked them.

I've seen a few in the Bahamas and tons in NC. Made me sick. I've also seen them in the Pacific and they are truly beautiful fish.

On the TV in the background is a discussion of Asian carp making their way to Lake Michigan.
