Likely Weather in August

Hi

I'm looking at doing a combo trip of Dumaguete/Alona Beach/Malapascua in August but I've been told the weather is crap then. Is that true? What sort of weather do you normally expect in August?

Appreciate the benefit of some local knowledge.
