according to atomics website they warranty (for life)everything but the hoses, mouthpiece, O-rings, filters and valve seats (these parts have a 2 year)...Also Atomic's warranty is not dependant on taking it in for regular service checks....even if you never take it in..its still under warranty as long as you are the original owner and it didnt come from a grey market source.

:rofl3: Sorry but that pretty much makes the warranty useless. All the remaining parts are either made of plated brass or SS, nothing to wear out or break other than a rare spring failure unless it's abused and then the warranty would not cover that. I suppose there might be some plastic parts in the second stage that could fail but even that is unlikely.

But it also means you are not required to pay an annual "installment" to maintain the warranty. I like the Atomic warranty in that it is not conditional on annual service. And, if you read closely, many others also exclude soft parts from their warranties. They are, instead, covered by a separate parts-for-life program which is only good in the US market. It requires you to pay $50 to $100 labor to receive free soft parts that cost the manufacturer a couple dollars to provide in most cases.

True, I suspect if pressed a little most any of the manuf would honor this part of their warranty, reguardless of service. Kind of hard to justify why not having it torn apart once a year made a body crack or a yoke fail.

I have a set of Z1s from 2002 that I've serviced twice, and they've never even needed the service kit. They are great breathers, and have about 250 dives on them between my old buddy and me. The atomic first stage uses a blunt tip on the sealing edge of the piston stem, so the seats usually never go bad. I've changed seats, but have never actually seen one with creep. You can love the warranty, but they offer that warranty because their regs never go bad. Besides, you are diving what is arguably THE most expensive brand of regulators on the market, the freaking warranty is the very least they could do for you.
