"To this day my dad has been in denial about that incident arguing we were not in any danger to which I reply Bollocks !

and the bigger question. Can you really grow up normal with a father like that? ( Do we have the same father?) My dad and my mom were very unique. Your perception of danger goes back to their attitudes. My "auto -safety, don't trust anyone with your life" attitude stems from having to survive childhood with parents like that.

Sorry, this quote was from another post, not mine. But Yes, I'm assuming all three of us might have the same father! :) Nothing wrong with that, as we have all seemed to learn something from him, regardless of his stubbornness! :)

Spent 3 weeks in Oahu over Christmas/New years. Jealous you get to stay!

My dad was a fireman for over 30 years and ,never, I repeat, never, brought the job home. As a busy fireman he's been responsible for saving countless lives - probably more than I have had hot dinners. In respect to his diving he's one of the most comfortable people I have ever seen in the water but he's the first person to admit that when it comes to diving he's a novice.

As a child I wanted for nothing - emotionally , materially or other wise.

I resent any implication whatsover that he was somehow deficient as a parent. I don't think anyone intended to be insulting about my dad but I resent the implication strongly.
