Went diving with Randy and Emerald Charters last Saturday December 21, 2013. Had three great dives. Bulls and lemons, viz wasn't great, current was ripping, seas were rough, but still had a great time. Thanks for watching, watch in HD

Nice. I've been meaning to get out, but between the pitfalls of working life and feeling a bit shot after some holiday heartbreak I haven't had an opening. Once I get back into South Florida next week I'll be in need of an immediate elasmobranch intervention :cool2:

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

I hate myself for not being able to tell the difference between lemons and bulls though I have googled them. Nice vid.

Diving with Sharks? Bro, isn't that dangerous? Death wish?

Diving with sharks can be done safely, but not the way those jokers do it. Hand feeding lemons and bulls? Using blood chum and speared fish to incite aggressive feeding behaviour while hands and feet are flapping arouind in open water?

Stay away . . . it's just a matter of time.

These are professionals. They have everything under complete control. Sharks are our friends, they would never bite a scuba diver. You just have to know how to act around sharks.. If you are scared they can sense that. These are expert spearfishermen who know how to handle these sharks. If you follow the guidelines, this type of diving is no more dangerous than any other type of diving. Don't you know how many sharks people kill every year? Do you hate sharks or do you harbor some sort of deep irrational fear of sharks? Don't you know that you are more likely to be killed by a falling vending machine or coconut than a shark? This is the only way that people can REALLY be educated about sharks; if we don't educate people about how important (and safe) sharks are, then they will become extinct. They are beautiful, graceful creatures! Sharks are extremely smart and have good eyesight, so in clear water there is no way a diver is going to look like food to a shark. Plus, once you learn about sharks (and stop this irrational fear of them) you will be able to judge the situation, and if the sharks ever get too excited or you become the least bit uncomfortable, all you have to do is make a slow orderly ascent and get on the boat. Apparently you are not a real photographer and you are just too scared to put yourself in a situation where you are pretty much assured of getting many opportunities for good close up shots of sharks. Maybe you should just stick to macro photography of nudibranchs, if the big bad sharks scare you too much.

yes lemons have double dorsals of almost equal size.

Sinbad: easiest way to tell them apart, Lemon sharks dorsal fins (on their backs) are almost the same size.

The matching dorsals are definitely the easiest and most definitive way to tell them apart. From a distance though, the main cue for me is the build. Bull sharks are built like, well, bulls. I've only seen one once underwater from about 30-40 feet away and there was no mistaking what it was.
