I have ordered alot from this company and I have always been treated fair but it sounds kind of funny. I would cancel the order and talk to a manager about what has happen.

My thinking is, if LP would have done like most other online shops would have done, or most any shop in the world most likely, charged the card, fail, check info, fail, call customer. Instead, they tried 7 times with wrong info!

If it was done correctly, the bank would had never been involved and the order could have went out that day. I'm guessing it's how the wrong CC info was handled is what is bothering the OP.

I accept CC myself, if I had bad CC info I'd run it, if it failed I would verify info, if all of the info was correct from what I could tell, I wouldn't even run it a 2nd time, I would call the customer. Besides, it costs me $$ everytime I run a card, even if I don't collect $$. I like that, because it keeps me from doing exactly what LP did :D

I have made 2 purchases from LP, and had no problems at all, in fact just very efficient (from the other side of the world). I had an issue when they wanted me to fax (or email) a bank statement, and photocopy of the front and back of my cc. I refused for security reasons, and it was quickly sorted. What annoys me is the lack of manufacturers guarantee . You just answered my question, which was if the manufacturers feel so strongly about not guaranteeing their goods purchased from LP, then why on earth supply them in the first place? Answer provided above "they are the biggest scuba retailer in the world". So the guarantee thing is a political move to appease the overcharging "authorised dealers"!! The manufacturer scores both ways, huge volume and happy dealers. I'm not a hypocrite my cameras come from 42nd street photo, and my dive gear form LP.

One thing I'll never understand about people ordering from LP. Many online shops out there will match or beat their price, plus they offer manu warranty, so why even order from LP? I use them as a price match engine.

Sigh. Well I wasnt trying to bash Leisurepro I was just trying to figure out if this has happened before and to see if I should be concerned. Like I said seems alot of people have had good results with them. On the response that what difference it would have made if LP called me instead of the bank is that it could have been solved right there than involving my bank to put a hold on the purchase. Im glad this was just an unusual case.
Thank you all for your responses.

I don't think so. LP would have had no reason to suspect there was a problem and a need to call you until *after* the card had been rejected for wrong expiration date. And if you re-read RA Walker's post, which matches my experience, subsequent attempts to run it with corrected info will likely be rejected as the cc company thinks the merchant is just guessing. If you know the old expiration date there's only 2 or 3 possibilities for the new one. They never change the month and most cards are valid 3 to 5 years. So even if LP had called you right away your bank would probably have to be contacted.

Besides, you never told us what time span these charges and calls occurred over. What time was the first attempt made and what time did the bank call you.

Not on the Aqualung/Scubapro/Suunto brands.

Liesure pro is ok,but if i buy online i like dealing with Authorized dealers.
wet suits , boots and those kind of things are ok.
but if you are buying a reg or computer , buy off a authorized dealer.
Try scubatoys next time they are authorized dealers and will match or beat liesurepro's prices.:D

The issue at hand is why did they attempt to authorize the cc a total of 7 times instead of calling the OP, verifying the info and possibly requesting another form of payment? And obviously LP knew there was a problem when the card was not authorized the first couple of times. Whether it was insufficient funds, wrong cc#, wrong exp date, frozen account, whatever, they knew there was a problem if it would not authorize.
