I was considering buying buying a computer from leisure pro. I talked to Oceanic and found out they are not an authorized dealer and that you dont get a warranty with them, the warranty is through leisure pro to handle. Has anyone run into a problem with their computer from leisure pro and tried to send it back to oceanic? What happened if you did? or did you send it back to leisure pro and what happened?

All i want here is an opinion on how they are to deal with on the computer not an arguement about advertising i want to know "how they are to deal with in a warranty situation"

Someone I know had your exact problem.
She sent the computer back to Leisure Pro and they sent her a replacement.

That's a fair question. You need to call Oceanic and they will tell you who is an authorize dealer and who is not. Also ask them for THEIR advice on what happens if you decide to buy from any dealer they do not authorize. Since you like Oceanic and have decided to buy their product, I think they can best advise you. Good luck. You picked a good computer maker. They are great on service.

A friend of mine had an Aeris computer from LP. When it crapped out a couple times, they returned it to LP who sent it off somewhere (I suspect it was to their European supplier. The fiorst time it took over a mopnth to get the "repaired" computer back. The original problem reappeared and it was again sent to LP. After quites a wait (over 2 months) LP received an authorization to replace the computer and did so with an upgraded model.

I would advise calling LeisurePro and asking them, since they will be the ones providing the service for you. As The Kraken mentioned, it is their policy to give you a replacement in the event of a defective unit.

I can't tell you about online dealers, and unauthorized dealers, etc, but I can tell you about service from Oceanic. They are great! I have two of them, a datamax proplus and a veo180 as back up. I had a problem with the datamx, later I learned it was my not re-scrolling before I dove after 1 hour SI, I told the service guy at Oceanic the problem, he said, send it back and we'll look at it, no sense in taking a chance. He also asked, did you buy from an authorized dealer, Yes, I said. He said send in your receipt with the puter. I did that. One week later they sent me a brand new datamax. They now have an account with my name and the puters serial number. A year later I was in Saba and my puter was not givng me water temp. I called the service guy at Oceanic and told him that and he said, send it to us and we'll replace it. I did, they sent me another new on. Guess what, I had an older compass on the puter and they replaced that too, which I did not asked for, with a newer one that was better than I had. Amazing! Now that's what I call service. I will stay with Oceanic for life.

Hope this helps you.
