Dive leader obviously never heard of Warhammer.... ;)

Fish_Whisperer:
Okay... I've seen Warhammer mentioned a few times. (as well as GUI and DIY.) What does this stuff mean? (Other than, "Yes, Frank: You are an FNG n00b!) ;)

Hi Fish_Whisperer,
First, welcome to the boards. I'm glad you came through your "situation" safely.
As to your question:
DIY= do it yourself
GUE= Global underwater explorers(?)
GIU=???

The Warhammer manuever: um, well, it is the name given to the act of, "relieving oneself" (to use the children's term: #2) underwater. It is named after one of the early members of this board, and IIRC(=if I recall correctly)there is a photo,albeit banned, of him in action performing said manuever-not apretty sight.

Hope this helps. By the way, there is a list of the more traditional scuba acronymns, located at
http://www.scubaboard.com/cms/article8.html

Take care,
Mike

Usually, anytime a diver is ready to surface for any reason, the DM will send up a surface marker to alert the boat, and any other boats in the area. I am surprised your DM didn't do this.

Also, there's no law (even in Coz) that says you can't make a safety stop longer than 3 minutes. If you're drifting along at 15 feet with the line, watching the group below you, you'd be amazed how long 300psi will last - and the things you might see.

Still, I wouldn't get in the water any more without some kind of surface marker.

Mike

It was not a photo of him doing it, but a picture posted by him of some one else doing it.

This appears to me to be an example of the fact that S*** happens :)

LOL, well put.

That photo is still, err, floating around on the net.
