A little late to the party but since I own both a Blacktip Tech and Travel and just bought a pair of Lefeet P1s I thought I’d chime in. I tried to order the 160 Wh batteries but Lefeet said they can’t be shipped to the U.S. I tried Amazon but they had only a single P1XR and I knew I wanted two. A single Blacktip with DeWalt batteries is pretty comparable in price to a pair of P1s with spare batteries at around $3K.
I was amazed that the pair of P1s did a great job keeping up with my friends Blacktip. I ran them maxed out at 4 for 20 minutes until they powered down to level 1 at roughly 20%. Did a 2nd dive and stayed at level 2 for 30 minutes before they powered down to level 1. In contrast I’ve run my Blacktip with 12Ah for several hours of diving and they still had plenty of juice.
The P1s are extremely fun but best run in a pair. At the same time having to hold onto both handles/controllers made it a pain to do anything else such as adjust buoyancy, check depth or navigate. At the same time the P1 is insanely maneuverable, I was able turn around in less than my body length. The lake also had a PVC maze in roughly 3’ cubes that’s hard even without a scooter. I don’t think I could have done it with the Blacktip.
Unless you only do one dive a day you’ll definitely need spare batteries. I’d never buy a DPV where the battery is integral and I had to charge between every dive.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use the P1 for freediving or snorkeling. For scuba diving it’s only good for light duty such as out and back. If I had to choose just one for scuba I’d pick the Blacktip.
I bought the SUP mount. In my one attempt the P1 kept cycling a very jerky 2 seconds on, half second off. In two days I had enough fun I plan to order the tank, thigh, and wrist mounts.
I’m really looking forward to using it to hunt for Meg teeth.
