Leatherback in Jupiter, FL (Cobia, Bulls, and Silkies too) 04/19/14

On Saturday April 19, 2014 myself, Mickey Smith and my dive partner Cameron Nimmo went out with Randy Jordan on the Emerald. Viz was okay for the first 30 feet on the deep ledge and then below that it was a thermocline with snotty green water. We did all three dives on the deep ledge staying up high seeing if we could find anything. Cameron saw the Leatherback on the deep ledge on our first dive. Him and only one other diver saw it, it was too far away for me to swim for. Cameron hung out with it for about a minute and a half. We think it was a big male, no cobia on it but lots of remoras, and about 7 feet long or so maybe 8. The second and third dives we brought bull sharks up from the murk and were able to get a few cobia off of them, we also had a silky shark hang out with us for a little while. Fun day, the "Shark Addicts" first leatherback! Thanks for watching!
