Well, not so mean actually but very lean!! He is 12 y.o. and excited to finally get a chance to try for his c card.

The problem is that when we go snorkelling together in the Philippines even in the height of summer (33* air / 28* water) he comes back on the boat shivering!! I think that at least some of this is due to his not fitting even kid size rental shorties very well. Anything that fits his height tends to be pretty baggy. He is about 5' tall and only weighs about 70 lbs., definitely not chubby :). Aside from diving he also tends to be the first one to get cold no matter what we are doing or who we are with.

I have 3 questions:

Do you all think that a 5 mil full suit would be overkill in this situation?

Does anyone know any suitable off the rack suits for extra thin people or will I need do have a wetsuit made?

If so, where can I have one made that won't break the bank and is there any way it can keep him warm AND have a bit of room for growth? (He's already starting to sprout and this could get very expensive if done yearly!!)

I want to keep my best future buddy warm and happy, especially when the difficult teen years are around the corner. I want to keep a couple of places and things where we escape and still get along!

Many thanks for any opinions / advice

Joe

They are the only ones that use the Rubitex G-231 neoprene....from what i have researched on the net it is the BEST neoprene and the onfo on the site about it concurs with what i found from third parties. they make kids suits with room to grow. and you can go completly custom.....good luck.
