Wouldn't it be great if all those people claiming their LDS is at or near online prices would post the name of the shop so the millions of divers buying online can find them?

Great. Why not start a thread solely for that purpose. No opinions, just names of dive shops, whether that's available to the typical customer, and whether that's on most items or a select few.

Isn't Divers Direct an online retailer? And you must realize that the LDS scene in diving meccas like south Florida is not representative of most of the country?

I simply responded to your post.
Did you forget? Do you think I am not telling the truth?
I previously posted examples of big ticket items I purchased.

And where did I ever say you weren't telling the truth? What did I forget?

I suggested people post LDS names that have online-level prices. Thanks for responding. Wouldn't it be even better if such posts were in a separate and dedicated thread where members could find them easily rather than scattered and buried in other threads?

:) :) Yea... but YOUR LDS is whooping up on MY LDS... :) :)

Ummm... and you mentioned that the big LDS/internet thingies have greatere overhead... now, would that be as a straight doller count measure or as a percentage of gross sales? I'm kinda' bettin' that it's the former...

J.R.

Depends on whether or not they have the same governor we have creating their taxes. Go Rodney... lol:(

I did not take your statement to be a constructive suggestion, rather thought it was sarcasm. I guess I was influenced by your other posts here and in the "Air Fill" thread.

Your opinions and dedication to these two "LDS" threads are quite passionate, to say the least.

It was a serious suggestion, I could be swayed if the evidence shows there is a substantial number of LDS out there with competitive prices. I just haven't seen it outside of Florida or southern California.

Sorry 'bout that! Didn't even think about it. Here ya go.

Leisure Time Dive & Ski, 3520 Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee, 37411

It's a smaller operation, not a huge store but sufficient. If they don't have it, they'll get it. If you're not happy, they work with you. Gary and Bob are great guys. They don't have any competition other than a store across town and the internet, but still haven't tried to rake anyone over the coals to my knowledge. They love diving and will do what they can to make their love of the sport yours. I was just there yesterday to check on a time my brother and I could get some pool time to practice skills before an OW dive, and some prices for my brother's rentals for the pool. No charge said Gary, I encourage you to practice, become more comfortable, enjoy yourself. I consider it an investment in furthering the sport and possible future/continued business. Great attitude! With that said, I haven't had much experience with any other LDS's to compare with, other than the other shop; which is fairly proud of everything they sell.
I think by also being a local snow ski shop helps in the cost of ops.

Good point, it may be that the LDS has to develop additional revenue streams.

Thanks guys, keep it coming. Interesting that some of the ones mentioned are doing exactly what I and others have been asking for - offering upfront competitive prices and implementing the internet. It's the others that refuse to give up the traditional model that are the object of our concerns.
