Any one know of a good place to check out gear in Destin or Fort Walton? Going to take a trip there in a few months and would like to look at some gear.

ScubaTech and Emerald Coast Scuba are favorites of some.

I've never bought anything from either of them though and
I don't know how they compare price wise with other shops.

ScubaTech

Destin, FL 32541

Don't know these three, but found them with the others on a list
Amphibian Divers
1774 Hwy 181

Chucks Dive World

Valparaiso, FL 32580

Diver's Emporium

Crestview FL 32539

There also I'm sure are some across the bridge in Ft. Walton.

I've bought from ScubaTech, Emerald Coast, and Chuck's. They carry different brands and have enough stuff to make an interesting visit. The only other one that I've been to is Diver's Emporium - it is very small with very little in it. Since it's in Crestview it is not high on my list.

I've only bought from ScubaTech while in Destin, and service has always been good.

ScubaTech and Emerald Coast sell different brands of equipment. From what I can tell, their pricing pretty much falls in line with most other shops. What I would maybe do, since you are a few months from making the visit, is check your local dive shops for gear and pricing (giving your LDS a chance first), then call those Destin shops up and see what they can do for you. They are both very friendly and helpful.

I didnt buy any gear, but I did charters with the folks from scuba Tech, and they are a great bunch of people.

Hey all. Just found this one. We are also going to Destin/Panama City in May. Looking for good DOs there. Anybody have any input?

Thanks,
Doug

Panama City:
Hydrospace (http://www.hydropace.com)
Panama City Dive Center (www.pcdivecenter.com)

Destin:
ScubaTech www.scubatechnwfl.com
Emerald Coast Scuba www.divedestin.com

There are other shops, but those are the "main" ones. (but doesn't mean they are the best as there are several small operators that give good service in the area also).
