Dive stores & centers which , if there were none !! There would simply BE no diving
and you are quite simply...wrong.

Having lurked around the site for the past few months, I continue to be amazed at the absolute ignorance in economic principles of the LDS bashers on this site.

There is a vast difference between being a smart buyer, and being cheap.

Please explain said "VAST Difference", cause I must have missed that in you essey titled "Stupid Clueless Internet shoppers".

Based on the devistating facts in your FIRST post (welcome to SB, I think :06: ), I simply can NOT fathom how no less that FOURTEEN LDS's are thriving in the Denver Market?

My LDS sells online, so now I'm confused :11doh: Am I a BAD clueless idiot for using my LDS because they sell online, or am I a Smart Buyer cause they are my LDS even if they are not everyone's LDS who may use them and if people travel to Denver, then is that OK to use my LDS because there is no internet involved, or is that still cheating on their LDS by using my LDS? If I use MY LDS to make an online purchase am I Cheap?

Another thought is that if the LDS raises their prices 20% above MSRP, and then offers a 15% discount, are they worth supporting? IF the LDS charges $200 to train OW students, but only pays the instructor $25 are they savvy, or ripping off their employees?

Is the Internet good or EVIL (pronounced EEEVeil)? Maybe the government should get involved, that could fix everything!

So what will your next post be.. hmm, BP/W vs. BCD, maybe Splits vs. Paddle, or could it be the loveable Octo Inflator vs. Octo debate. One can only hold their breath with anticipation and wait calmly for the next inspiriing and original rant!

to ensure they will make the profit they need on say 10 items yet they could mark their items up 30-80% and make their profit off selling 20-30 items and be more competitive with onlines stores

The thing is that depending on where the shop is located, there might only be 50 or so divers in that area, and not all of them will purchase a new reg/BC every year.

Some times you need to make enough profit on thoses 10 items to ensure you can pay rent, employees, insurance, compressor maintenance, buy O2 and He, utilities, pay shipping on new items etc. But stilll the prices usually arent market any higher than MSRP and many times 10% lower.

I believe people should shop where they want but dont burden the diveshops asking them for advice, then turn around and buy online. If you have questions about diving, call LeisurePro. Or if the online IS actually a LDS (to some one) ask them.

& the reason prehaps you dont get coffee or are frindly is prehaps you go into a shop expect the same prices as internet is because you dont shop there !

Is this a joke? Four of the sales people from my LDS post on this board, and one has posted in this thread. Why don't you ask THEM if I shop there, and dive with the guys from the shop.

I don't get coffee at the shops because it's not offered. And imagine this, I STILL BUY FROM THEM. Out of the approximately $3000 I've spent on SCUBA gear and training in the past 11 years, exactly two sales have come from online retailers, with the remainder coming from LDS. Doesn't mean I don't shop around and try to get the best price for my dollar.

Get grip dude.

Well just replying !!

' You are quite simply wrong ' is a great argument . I would really like you to explain why you think this way ?

So wouldnt it be wonderful all you LDS bashers that next time you arrive at your exotic destination with all your cheapskate gear you got on the internet you found to your horros there were NO Dive centers !!!!!= No Diving !!!!! , hey try going online to order a days diving !

!

There will always be operators in the "exotics" because that's where most of the world's diving happens. If you take this as an example, you'll understand why I am not trying to sell snow boards here in Belize.

Irobot:
I DONT use internet , well only once ordered some black fins & got pink ones !!!!

Maybe they just knew what you really wanted.:fruit:

I smell a troll in the start of this thread.

Economics 101. If there is a market, someone will serve it. For local divers, It maybe that a scuba club will form and buy a compressor. For resorts...well, they will have their own compressor so they couldn't care less if LDS's bit the dust.

There are more Scuba compressors in Garages in Edmonton, than the number of dive stores.
