I have a 3mm jumpsuit and a 7mm two piece farmer john. I want to get a 5mm one piece and am thinking of a shorty to go over top of it for colder dives. Or even a shorty over the 3mm, the 7mm is too warm right now.

Any advice as to layering wetsuits?

thanks

I layer a 3mil Henderson shorty over my 5mil Henderson full and it definitely seems to help when the water is bit colder than what is comfortable with the 5mil alone. I do this when the thermocline is in the 55 to 65 degree range.;)

Cheers

I don't know that it would help that much based on the way a wet suit is designed to work. You are better off buying a custom suit that fits well.

I have a friend that lost a bunch of weight and his suit was to big so he would wear a 3mm shorty under is 7mm and it helped a little.
