Dove Laurel Lake at the dam today. The water level is up; the surface appears green right now. Surface water temp was around 50 degrees, the first thermocline around 20 feet dropped the temp to 43 degrees or so, and the coldest I registered was 39 degrees at 90 feet. With the water level where it is right now, you hit "the rail" at 75 feet. Visibility at all depths was poor: no better than 7 feet anywhere. Last April I saw vis as good as 30 feet, so I hope things are improving. Not many fish to see, although the fishermen sure were trying. Despite hoisting the dive flag, someone was casting in our area during the dive (what a surprise). When I untied the dive flag from the bottom (10 feet), someone had already hooked into it and broke their line.

the recent rains had anything to with the poor viz? Recently at Lake Carnico I had expected better viz than what we had especially with the water being cold.

Thanks for the report.

I am sorry I missed it but we will get down there soon.
