I`m looking for a Latin Phrase to go with my Pirate tatoo. something to go on a banner below it,....I have searched all of the latin sites, and all I can find is the typical generic stuff, ...What I would like is something like: Where the sea is, is My Freedom (liberty), My heart belongs to the sea,... or some dive related verse, maybe from a past era of diving or sailing,..... if YOU have suggestions, I`m open...please see what you can come up with, it would be greatly appreciated, and who knows....maybe you will see it tatooed on my arm someday....See ya` under

Nulli Expugnabilis Hosti (Conquered By No Enemy)

Perhaps some of the following may be of help:

Die dulci fruere.
Have a nice day.

I hate Astroturf.

Furnulum pani nolo.
I don't want a toaster.

Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare.
I think some people in togas are plotting against me.

Nihil curo de ista tua stulta superstitione.

It doesn't rhyme.

I don't care. If it doesn't rhyme, it isn't a poem.

I think you should go with this one:

Sona si Latine loqueris.

or this one by Columbus

"where the %%&^ is the land already!"

'Slogger

where the sea is, there is my freedom:

qua mare est, libertas mea est

my heart belongs to the sea:

pectus meus mare illa

my latin translation is very rusty. take these with a grain of salt.

A personal favorite of mine:

"Sic Transit Gloria"

Unless, of course, you actually know a woman named Gloria. Then it might seem weird. It means "Thus passes earthly glory", kind of like, all things are temporary, or something. Watch the movie "Patton" to hear a better explanation from George C Scott.

(edit)- another fave: "Vita Brevis, Ars longa"- Hippocrates. Life is short, Art is long.

I believe the full quote is: "Life is short, art is long. The moment, instant. The decision, difficult. Experiment, perilous."
