We have seen GPO's on that dive a few times and I really like how the lings seem to think the crane boom is a kind of artificial reef...:-) I suppose it is but kind of suspended off the bottom. The current can get pretty good there and we have spent some "interesting" times on deco...

We were "sorta" told drifting the deco is a no-no due to the Comox-Powell River ferry lane just to the south?? I'm not sure if that's 100% true or a mismash of our briefing. Also not sure the ferry wouldn't give way and go around anyway.

We'd planned on cave diving all week but got worn out on the hiking in and needed more splunking gear to push further anyway. So Kevin and I actually had borrowed SMBs for this dive which we couldn't really use since the boat was moored anyway. But they were good to have along.

Great video, looking forward to seeing the cave video when you guys get it up. Everytime I see video from the Northwest, I just get itching to get out west someday and go diving.

Cheers,
Jim

Wow, there really are tons of lings on that wreck! I really love seeing lings, but we don't see nearly as many down here. Thanks for sharing :D

I’m certainly loving these trip reports and the discussions.

Thanks everyone for sharing.

Great idea Brian & Rjack!

Personally I would love more "we did this or we did that" discussion about real dives. I think most of this community would/could learn from that - even from recreational reports - way moreso than they would get out of another class report, boltsnap, or accident discussion (the top 3 SB topics).

This dive and UCF's cave report are not "perfect" dives. I don't think there is such a thing anyway so you might as well appreciate the hiccups (small ones, big hiccups suck).

The real learning occurs when things don't go as planned...:-)

Sweet video, thanks for sharing it and discussing the dive afterwards.

Ok, if something is inspiring/interesting I'll probably take a stab at writing up some entertaining recreational reports :).

So true :)
