Hey does anybody know if Roatan has suffered at all from the storm? I would imagine it has but I'm an eternal optimist.

Minor damage to Utila and to the Northern and Western Roatan operations. Nothing that some boards and nails can't make right. The salty stuff will be stirred up for a bit.

View of a Roatan webcam (daylight) to the North (from wence the storms come) see: http://63.245.92.231/live_webcam.htm

The Roatan South side, away from the blow, daylight view only: http://www.cocoviewresort.com/webcams.html

Roatan and the Bay Islands are generally Hurricane Proof (except for Mitch 1998 and many others!) but they do suffer the lashing winds and rain of the storms that almost always track exactly as Wilma has.

Our trip to the Keys was scheduled for 21st thru to Nov 1 but Wilma saw to it that we wouldn't go there. However we booked a trip last minute to Costa Rica to dive on the Pacific side. We booked through Rich Coast Diving at one of the B&B's, I think Villa de Flores or something like that. Anyway Rich Coast Diving has been very helpful. You might want to check them out. Our package with diving included is 592.00/pp for deluxe and airfair was around 435.00 person out of Charlotte, NC. So all in all we will be coming out cheaper in the long run.

thanks for the help guys, we're booked at CoCo View in Roatan for Saturday :) Should be great I hope!

Yeah I'm sure Coz will be super cheap for a while after Wilma is long gone... but I'm stuck with my time frame so I'm thinking I'd better go elsewhere :) I'm going to look into the south pacific, that would be so exotic! However I'm loving the look of Sunset Waters in Curacao, great deal too... Hey does anybody know if Roatan has suffered at all from the storm? I would imagine it has but I'm an eternal optimist. thanks for the tips so far!

We just booked our trip to Roatan for the same reason. It seems like everything is ok there, or at least the agent did not warn us of any problems caused by Wilma.

I hate to nitpick but Truk is north of the equator.

Damn, you're right. I must be geographically challenged. I was thinking it was in the Solomons, not the Carolines. It still remains my holy grail of diving.
