I did the custom vue but they did not have the laser to cut the cornea yet so they used a blade. I had an experienced doctor for the procedure.

I came out with 20/10 and 20/15 which was awesome.

However, I have had some regression and now after 2 1/2 years I have 20/30 and 20/50. So to drive I have to wear a contact in the 20/50 eye. Bummer. And my eyes are still dry. However I am a 46 year old female and your eyes get drier by then anyway.

I can still dive vacation without glasses but be sure to ask about your possibility about regression. Surely this depends on how bad your vision is to start out.

Would I do it again knowing what I know now? Sure I would. But don't have unrealistic expectations. Remember they say to "reduce your dependence on glasses or contacts" Not to eliminate it.

I thought I would put in my two cents worth since most people have great outcomes and you don't hear very many people that have had some problems.

I have not decided whether to try an enhancement yet or not.
Good Luck to those getting this procedure done.

I had Lasek (PRK) in October. Just returned from a dive trip and it was great not to have to mess around with contacts which have always irritated my eyes. Well worth it.

Just 3 more days and I will SEE the WORLD! :D

Good luck RumBum, I go in under the light next Friday the 20th.

Anyone has the side effect, such as night vision problem.

Lasik has been so popular in Asia. The successful rate is highly dependent on the equipment and doctor's skill (the more case they have, the better skills they have).

I would LOVE to have it done, but $6000.00 bucks is just too much for me to bear!

It is a ridicuous price. You can have it done within $2k~3K in other countires.

Had my eyes zapped the week after Thanksgiving of this year. It's been about a month and a half, and the follow up appointments have been great. I was 20/1200 going into it, and had great results:

Day after: 20/25 both eyes, some swelling and bruising.
One week: 20/20ish both eyes, right eye better, some swelling, bruising.
One month: 20/15 right eye, 20/20 left eye, very little swelling

Subjectively, my vision is great. I get small halos around lights at night if my eyes are dry, and big changes in lighting can throw me off a bit, but I rarely notice any problems.

Just have to make sure I dump eye drops in my eyes frequently, and they stay comfy and working well all day long.

PM me if you have any questions... I had a tremendous amount of anxiety going in to it, and scoured every eye forum site that I could find trying to relieve the tension.

Glad I did it! Such a huge difference. It's kind of funny though... I've worn glasses or contacts for 18 years, and after Lasik I still find myself trying to adjust my glasses, take them off, or take out my contacts before bed. I haven't gotten used to having normal eyesight yet =)

By custom do you mean mono? QUOTE]

No, it is the wavefront mapping. The way I had it explained it is a much more precise procedure and there are less reports of night vision problems.

Total cost for custom view will be $3,350 - I could also chose to go with the standard procedure and it would be $2,500. There are places that are less expensive than this I know - but it is in the ballpark and I am impressed with the doc and his staff.

I decided to go with custom view because it is the most technically advanced and is still within my reach financially.

Yeah, that's wayyyyy out of line. We paid less than 4K for each of us and that was even high, but worth it for me. Price in CA is much lower than here in OR.
