wildcard- who did you go to? I went to Aloha Vision with Dr.Faulkner. Super nice people. Have a great time in Alaska.

Same place. When I asked him if he could do the same for my hearing, he asked " do you realy want to hear women all the time?"...Whole crew was awsome!!!!!!!!
Now I know why you saw the toad? fish before I did!

The docs got me down to 20/40 in both eyes, which while a tremendous improvement over the 20/700 I used to be, means I can *barely* operate a car safely. I can't sit in the backrow of a seminar and see the chalkboard.

I'll probably go back next month and see if they can refine my prescription. Otherwise I'll need to go back to glasses, albeit far less powerful ones.

My lasik surgery is scheduled for 1/13! I am super excited. I am so glad that here I was, thinking about getting this done and then I see a current post on the subject here!
Archman,
here in Austin, Mann Eye's policy is that you pay for the initial surgery and then if you need any further corrective procedures within 2 years of your op date it is free. That's what they told me, anyway.

BabyDuck:
i had lasek (no flap, all scrape :D ) in may. dry for 3 weeks after the second - they were done 10 days apart - so 4 weeks total.

very very happy. lasek has more pain and slower healing but i had to because of previous eye probs, and i never have to worry about flap problems.

was -4.75 and -5.25, now perfection - like the rest of me...

OMG MArci, that is MY RX exactly Rt is the 5.25.

Just scheduled mine for the 20th of Jan in Cjarlotte.

mel has volunteered to drag me back and forth to the doc!

They are saying 8 weeks out of the water.

Great news. I had LASIK a year ago, also with Intralase. I had -5.0 in both eyes, plus mild astigmatism. Now I'm at better than 20/15. I had some problems due to the Intralase though--transient light sensitivity. A couple of weeks after I went off the steroid drops, my eyes got very light sensitive. I was wearing sunglasses in my office & in the rain. If the sun was out, I added a wide brimmed hat and alot of Advil. My doc insisted it was normal healing, then tried to tell me it was due to epithelial tissue growth. However, I only had the epithelial tissue growth in one eye, but light sensitivity in both, so I didn't let him operate again. Sure enough, the light sensitivity began improving on its own in August. I'm finally glad I had the surgery, but for a while a sure wasn't. For those reading this & thinking about LASIK with Intralase--do a heck of alot of research on Intralase before you go with it!

I've got it planned for Oct... that way I can use my med flew spending account, not the credit card! I'm totally looking forward to it.

Now my lasik surgery is a bit over 2 weeks away. Can't dive up to then because of the contact restrictions. Can't dive for 4 weeks (maybe LONGER) after the surgery. I haven't dove now since November cause of various holiday obligations! Whatever will I do??? AND I got new gear for Christmas that I am dying to try out! OH woe is ME!!!

I'm going in for my pre-op next week....how many of you did the 'regular' procedure vs. the 'custom view'? I'm still on the fence. They tell me 75% of their procedures are the custom view that come with an $800 premium.

By custom do you mean mono? I tried it with glasses and had vertigo bad. Distance vision both eyes for me and I love it! My doc is a diver and told me a week was fine but two would be better to wait after before diving. Ended up being a month and it was so nice not to have to work about my frikkin contacts....

I think by Customvue he means that they do a wavefront mapping of your eyes, as opposed to the "which is better, 1 or 2, 3 or 4 thing".

It's supposed to reduce the likelihood of the common night problems, and also is supposed to address higher order aberrations that regular lasik sometimes misses.
