I can't locate info for divers in the Las Vegas/Lake Mead area. I'll be there this weekend and would like to try diving Lake Mead with some locals. If anyone can direct me to someone or a group on ScubaBoard I'd appreciate it.

Stupid question: What is there to look at in a lake? I've never done Fresh water diving before, so excuse my question.

I've never dove Lake Mead or Mohave and my fresh water experiences haven't been good, low viz, not much life. I'd rather suck it up and make the drive to SoCal or Mexico if I have the time. But if you haven't done it before, why not, it's a different experience. I'll probably try fresh water again this winter when the viz is supposed to be very good.

I hear Lake Tahoe is beautiful and has extremely good viz (100'?). Also the fresh water springs in FL look incredible. I've never dove a lake and since I am sick of Las Vegas (I have family there that I visit several times a year) I want to dive if I can.

tau- I'm not sure what there is in Lake Mead with the submerged town now above water and the airplane wreck illegal to dive. I hope to find out though. :D

Lake Tahoe is a great place to dive. There are a lot of interesting things to see in Tahoe and there are a lot of great dive sites there. At least they all seem really interesting to a guy who hasn't had the chance to dive in the ocean yet.
