Has anyone done any spearfishing in Lake Lanier? I have been a spearfisherman for many years and moved to Georgia near Lake Lanier about 7 1/2 years ago. Been wanting to go spearfishing but you can only spear non-game fish and catfish in Georgia's Freshwaters. So what does that leave you to spear besides catfish and where do you go? What else is there to do while diving Lanier?
Edited, you can spear catfish but not in Lanier, only in the Savannah River and its tributaries and impoundments in the Savannah River Basin only.
as cut and paste from the reg guide:
• Only nongame fish, and catfish as described
below, may be speared in freshwater
and are not to be sold or used for
commercial purposes.
• The taking of flathead and channel catfish
by spear may be done any time day or at
night by light in the Savannah River and
its tributaries and impoundments in the
Savannah River Basin only.
