Anyone dive Jocassee this weekend? What are the temps and vis?

Water temps are chilly 48 degrees last time I was diving @ the wall 2/21/10. Check out this thread it has some updates for Jocassee http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/south-eastern-united-states/285334-lake-jocassee-update.html How is Clarks hill ? Is the fish come back . Maybe Tony and me can get over there to dive with you agian.

Clark Hill is mud right now (vis 1-2') and chilly (46 degree today). That is why I'm asking about Jocassee. We have had way too much rain....Thinking about building an ark. Glad to have y'all over again, but you might want to wait until the vis returns.

Ya that is like diving in Lake Lanier . Maybe when you get to Jocasse we will see you there and get some dives together We usualy go diving ther once a month . I am going to be in Key Largo this month. Getting my Advanced open water cert. (March 25-28) All the cold diving realy sucks my air consumsion down . I really go through a tank in 30 min. as apposed to 45- 55 min. Looking at getting a drysuite so I can dive in more comfurt in the cold months

I hear you about the drysuit (does that qualify for a second home mortgage?
) Several of us are going to the the ramp Saturday. I've got a new bp/w setup. I've tried it locally (not that I could see anything on it during the dive) I bought it for a travel set-up, but it is plenty sufficient for my cold water set-up (Oxycheck 18 wing, SS travel plate, basic harness, oxy medium delux weight pockets). Floats me high enough with a full 100cf steel in fresh h2o and has enough bouyancy at 100'.

I hope you have a great dive . The viz should be great for you all 15 to 20+ feet (last time i was there .) Looks lake you should have good weather for you surface intervals .

Yeah, looking forward to vis,64 degrees and sunshine Saturday. Don't mind low vis diving as it does offer challenges. If you can navigate several targets in 1-2' vis across 75-100 yards or so and hit them there is a sense of accomplishment (make that surprise
). However, I will never say vis is "overrated" Local diving has been interesting though - the fish don't see you either until you are in their face. Give a shout if y'all would like to join us Sat. though I know you are headed up next weekend for class and that may be too many trips. I love diving on Bill's boat. I also love the shore dive at the diver's ramp. Diving in the trees/forest at 90' is way cool/surreal. Catfish resting on tree limbs or scurrying up and down the trees like squirrels. The bass/cats for safety stop among the rocks are cool (well I hope not too cool this weekend).
