I heard it was horrible. Like the people just made 220 stupid mistakes. Someone told me the girl came up with like 300psi, and they didn't put their name on the list of people the boat captain was checking off because they didn't want to get junk mail, stupid crap like that. Of course, I haven't seen it, this is just what I've heard.

I never once saw what either of their pressure gauges said, as to how much air they surfaced with.

I didn't either, but I was wondering what it was. Would be interesting to know if someone could find some hard facts.

Sounds like the people you're listening to haven't seen it either. Neither of those things happened in the movie.

I thought it was great for what it is: a low budget movie. Compared to most of the low budget movies I've seen, this is one of the better ones.

As a "mainstream" movie, it doesn't stack up quite as well because the acting is weak at times and the story is thin, but I felt the director did a great job of introducing and escalating tension.

As a diving movie ... well, there are divers in it. I thought it did give a good sense of the atmosphere on a boat dive and the first few moments in the water, but diving is just incidental after that.

Well, I'm pretty new to diving so perhaps there were mistakes I didn't notice, but neither of those (above) was in the film I saw. Actually, I think camera work that can make someone seasick might be getting a bit too realistic. I really enjoyed the film and DF who is a far more experienced diver than I am thought that over all it was a good movie. It sure as the dickens gives you something to think about. After that film I'll have more concern about the dive boat operation than the sharks. I'm looking forward to diving the ocean and seeing a shark. I think Open Water is a good film, a true story well told. I recommend seeing it.

For what they had to work with, I thought that it was an "OK" movie. Seems to be the general reaction of those people that don't just hate it. I think that its one of those that you have to see for yourself.

I too probably should have brough duct tape, because my mom kept telling me to stop talking or we were going to get kicked out LOL.... so I resorted to hand gesutures. You know, the, what-the-heck-were-they-thinking gesture. LOL

Safe diving!

I saw the movie Sat night (I personally thought it was pretty bad) and then spent Sunday afternoon in pretty low viz (should say no viz)- 15 to 20 ft deep and could just barely read my press guage....this area is known for small black tips. They're not aggressive, but once while hanging off the tag line on the surface I started having flashbacks of the movie...man if something had touched my leg I would have done a Jesus back to the boat.

Just got back from it--a big group of us from our dive shop all went together. I found it pretty entertaining--the people were so unlikable and stupid that by the end I was rooting for the sharks :) .

Another friend who is a diver agreed with the review.

EVEYPR7:
I'd like to know if it's worth going to see in the movies or should I wait till it comes out in DVD.
