Hey buddy... I've done a little weather outlook and forecasting. We've got 40% rain chances on Sun/Mon here, so we should be good to go for some good fossiling at venice!

The rocks are susposed to be straight out from the restrooms(?) at the 3rd parking lot in John Lloyd park. Its around the curve whrere the big parking lots are.
Kbeck send me your cell again. I probably forgot to put in my phone book LOL!
Dennis- No telling what the vis is going to be like, I would say its completely dependent on what the weather will be like the next couple days.
I suggest meeting at 8:30 in the parking lot. It seems to be calmer then, but if we get there earlier, that would not be a problem either.
Looking forward to a dive!

KBeck and I braved the wind only to get to the park and decide not to dive. We met at the dive shop, combined gear to drive one car, and checked out the conditions. White caps as far as the eye could see.
So we set up towels on the beach and got some sun. We were watching a group of 3 in the water coming back in. No flag, and were a mess getting on shore-getting knocked down in the surf, rolling in the sand, UGH!. Found out the surf ripped their flag off the pole, and the styrofoam float, their first beach dive, equipment was dragging everywhere, and the woman was newly certified last weekend. OH well.
Valuable lessons to be learned:
1. Learn how to enter and exit the surf.
2. Learn how to attach the flag to the pole so you don't loose everything.
3. Learn how to listen to the radio and understand that when it says 3-5 with rip currents the weather forcasters may be right.
4. Find out from locals where to dive and what to expect.
5. Its ok to abort the dive.
6. Do not to make fun of people screwing up when it seems so obvioius they were clueless, we were all there once ourselves.

I went out with Lighthouse Divers Sat and Sunday. Another buddy got certified otherwise I would have stayed on solid ground.. The waves were way too much for this Gulf boy.. It was either puke from the waves, or pass out from the Dramamine.. I passed out.. I was diving almost comatose.. (used very little air though.. :)

The dives were alright but I am sick of that area! I have dove Pompano/Lauderdale every weekend at least twice for the last 2 months. Great dives, but I need a change. I am falling in a rut!

Last weekend and this monday we started gulf diving more. The vis sucks (10-15 close in) but the life is more interesting.. Nothing like swimming with a school of snook, huge cobia and Jewfish. I dont plan on another trip to the east coast except for the DEMA show on October. Until then, West is Best.. I discovered that my pontoon boat has no problem running out 6 miles to the reefs.. (but learned the hard way to come back in BEFORE the storms...)..
Oops..

Hey Johnny,

If ya ever need a dive partner or crew, give a holler. My wife and I are almost always up to local dives. I did some free diving off of Wiggins pass Sunday and 2 great dives up off of Manasota Key (just north of Englewood) yesterday.
